Enhancing Inclusive Governance, Empowerment, and Resilience of Communities towards the Realization of Human Rights.
This project advances feminist transformative governance by centering the voices and agency of Chama women and young women as architects of social change. Through a rights-based approach, we identify and mobilize marginalized women who have been systematically excluded from decision-making spaces, building their collective power to demand accountability and claim their rightful place in political processes. We have been able to address the interconnected struggles women face, from gender-based violence to poor public services delivery, while strengthening their capacity as change agents.
The project has already yielded some concrete victories: in Kangemi and Mountain View wards, chama women successfully advocated for the resumption of the Kangemi Flyover construction, directly improving community access to healthcare and education. In Machakos County, our work contributed to a historic breakthrough. Machakos University now has its first-ever female Student President, breaking decades of male-dominated student leadership.
