Tackling Sexual harassment

Completed Project

Tackling Sexual harassment in university student government elections.

Badili Africa addresses sexual harassment as a key deterrent to young women’s active participation in governance and democratic processes. Our project focused on three core areas: documentation, capacity building, and awareness creation. We documented the experiences of young female student leaders from various universities in Nairobi, shedding light on the horrors of gender-based violence (GBV) during university government elections. Additionally, we conducted comprehensive capacity building for over 50 female student leaders, along with 25 administrators, psychologists, security personnel, and others involved in combatting GBV in universities. We established GBV Accountability Response Teams, led by female students, advocating for accountability and comprehensive support for GBV survivors.
