Makeup Activism

Badili Africa using makeup activisms to educate young women on politics

Through Makeup Artivism exhibitions, Badili Africa gives voice to gender-based violence survivors and sparks conversations on social change. We use make-up Vibrant artistry and the body as a canvas to tell survivors impactful stories, catalyze empathy, and prevent re-stigmatization. The exhibits provide an alternative space for survivors to artistically share their narratives instead of recounting trauma. Reaching over 200 people, Badili’s makeup activism has opened dialogues challenging norms that perpetuate violence, making people reflect on their own behaviors and attitudes.
