Preventing Gender Based Violence Against Women

advocating for women in politics

Implemented in informal settlements of Mathare, Kawangware and Kayole, this project recognizes young women as agents of their own liberation from cycles of gender-based violence and economic marginalization. This approach centers the lived experiences of GBV survivors and most at-risk adolescent girls, building their collective power through accessible financial services, entrepreneurial opportunities, and raising their consciousness to speak up against harmful practices. The project challenges structural inequalities that perpetuate violence against women while fostering economic independence as a pathway to safety. We strengthen networks of young women who not only access critical information on matters of GBV but also become powerful advocates for systemic change, contributing to communities that refuse to normalize violence.
